[SOLVED] DVD Drive not Showing up in Windows 8

In my office we recently installed Windows 8. Everything looked good but for some reason the DVD drive was not showing up.

After some runs in Microsoft forum I finally solved the issue. It was pretty easy.

If you have been bothered by this, I bring to you this easy fix (follow the instruction below):

1. Log in to windows with Administrative privilege

2. In the start-up screen type: CMD then press Ctrl+Shift+Enter

3. Command prompt window appears, type (the whole thing as it is):

reg.exe add "HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\atapi\Controller0" /f /v EnumDevice1 /t REG_DWORD /d 0x00000001

and hit enter.

4. Well, you don’t know it but the problem is fixed. Reboot the system to find it working!!

Windows 8 is so much fun. I wish you great time computing!! ENJOY!!!
